Hello
friends and welcome to the August edition of our
newsletter. Sorry for the delay but "better late
than never"!
There is lots of news this month but make sure you
scroll all the way down for our August SPECIAL!
First of all we would like to
introduce our new
aesthetician, Ms. Jacqueline
Lozano. She is a para-medical
aesthetician with 14 years of experience in skin
care and is an expert in microdermabrasion, high-end
medical grade peels and facials. Those that
have experienced her touch have used words like
"heavenly",
"soothing", "lovely"
to describe it. So, don't miss out.
Treat yourself and beautify your skin at the same
time. We guarantee you'll love your
treatment.
On to other news...
In June we told you about our favorite sunblock,
La Roche Posay's Anthelios SPF 60 with Mexoryl.
Since then this product has been all over the news
and many popular TV programs such as
The Today Show
and The View.
We knew it was only a matter of time before this
product found national fame here in the United
States! But we won't try to take credit for it
because this product sells itself. And if you
already use it, you know what we mean. Here is
parts of an article in the August issue of
"Prescriber's Letter", (an unbiased
evidence-based newsletter in drug therapy targeted
for healthcare professionals):
" All of the buzz about a
sunscreen ingredient called mexoryl is
drawing attention to the importance of UVA
protection.
Mexoryl is a
UVA filter used in Canada and Europe. It's not in
the U.S...
Most sunscreens are labeled
"full" or "broad-spectrum"...to indicate that they
block both UVA and UVB rays.
But people don't realize that
SPF ratings apply only to UVB... there's
no standard rating for UVA protection (in the USA).
UVB rays cause
sunburn and skin cancer.
UVA rays penetrate
deeper in the skin leading to wrinkles...
sagging...discoloration...and photosensitivity
reactions. UVA also contributes to skin cancer.
Avobenzone,
oxybenzone, and dioxybenzone filter UVA rays... but
these sunscreens break down quickly in the sun.
Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide
are very effective at blocking both UVA and UVB
rays...but many leave a white film.
Mexoryl is popular
because it's very effective...photostable... and
cosmetically appealing...
UVA protection is especially
important for patients using drugs that can cause
photosensitivity...quinolones...retinoids...
thiazides, etc. These drugs or their metabolites can
react with UVA light and cause skin damage. "
Now you know where to go to get this product.
